Waiarohia Stream Footbridge

Big Assets Ltd (Steve Bowlings) approached LC Hydraulics and Pirtek Northland to assist in the concept and design of the turning mechanism for a pedestrian bridge over the Town Basin tributary.

The critical component to Big Assets’ tender was all contractors must be of local content.

The bridge turns around a centre pivot point by 90 degrees. This is done so by a hydraulic cylinder placed underneath the centre pivot driven by a remote mounted power pack on board the platform. The movement of the bridge is controlled by a PLC program.

As this project is of high profile attention to detail was paramount. Through great project management all contractors worked together to achieve an outstanding result.
